Report of YCS Brighton

This past weed end, I judged at the YCS Brighton, and like always I spent a great time.

There is two pictures I took from the Judge Stage before the event started :

From the stage, this was the left part of the Main Event room.

From the stage, this was the right part of the Main Event room.

724 players were gathered at the Brighton Center during the weekend and the winner of the Main Event is Ping Xiao and his Dino Rabbit Deck.

The Top 16 Decklist is already available here.

I have listed some insteresting things which happened during the weekend :

- In the Top 16, 8 players used a Dino Rabbit Deck.

- The 2011 National Champion of the Netherlands, Wytze Kluitenberg won the YCS Trial to Long Beach.

- Luke Lennard (Top 4 at the European Championship 2011) lost in the Top 16 because a Judge give him a Gameloss for taking to long when Luke went to the toilet.

- The two-time YCS winner, coming from the USA, Billy Brake wasn't in the Top 32 of the Main Event. Neither was his 3 fellow American friends.

- A Giant Rescue Rabbit was won by Tom Paine.

- Another Giant Tour Guide From the Underworld was won by Peter Gross (Austrian National Champion).

- A Giant Number 17: Leviathan Dragon was won by Pierre Pradelles (2-Time French National Champion (2005 & 2007)).

- I overheard that someone proposed to a Giant-Card winner 700€ or £700 (or maybe it was 400) in exchange of his Giant Card, and the Giant-Card winner said no.

- I missed the Judge Photo because I was outside the building smoking a cigaret ^^

- A French Player was disqualified for bribery during the Round 8 of the Day 2. He proposed to concede the match in exchange of cards, the player said yes, showed him some cards, the french player saw no-interesting cards so they decided to play the match. And after the french player won the match 2-0, his opponent decided to call a Judge to have the french player disqualified.

- A player was disqualified for having in his Deck Box a piece of paper helping him side-decking between duels.

- The Head Judge told me that special summoning Meklord Emperor Granel by its effect is a Inherent Special Summon. And he compared Granel to Judgment Dragon to confirm his ruling.

- The 3 most played cards amoung the Top 16 was Maxx "C" (31), Tour Guide From the Underworld (36) and Mystical Space Typhoon (44)

That's all I can remember for now.

Tell me your thougths on the YCS Brighton.
