Lightpulsar + Red-Eyes + Cannon Soldier = OTK
Edit : this article was made before the world knew Lightpulsar would miss the timing of its effect, so if you are interesting in what would have happened if not, you can read what follows. ^^
I don't know if you realized it yet but, when the Structure Deck Dragonic Legion will be realesed, a lot of OTK deck will come out.
It's not as extreme as it sounds, maybe not a lot of people will play this OTK because it will not be a stable deck, or maybe Konami will ban some cards like Cannon Soldier in order to prevent OTK decks from ruling the format.
For the OTK we need only 3 cards. First, we need one of the remaining playable OTK material still in competition, the one and only Cannon Soldier :
For those who don't know/remember him, he is a four star monster and its effect goes as follows:
Tribute a monster to inflich 500 damage to your opponent.
Sounds like Dark Strike Fighter to you? It's quit the same but Cannon Soldier's effect is weaker.
The OTKmaterial-banishing bomber that is Konami still got work to do after banishing Dark Strike Fighter, Mind Master, Mass Driver, Substitoad, ... (the list goes on and on as you know)
Let's get back to this OTK
The Second Card we need is one of the most feared and powerful dragon in all of the Yu-Gi-Oh! monster comunity, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon :
Which effect is that you can special summon him easily from your hand by bannishing a Dragon-Type monster on your field, and once per turn you can reborn a Dragon-Type monster from your graveyard or Special Summon one from your hand.
And I present to you, the third card we need, coming from the Structure Deck 22 : Dragonic Legion, he is a 6-Stars LIGHT Dragon monster with 2500 ATK, he is Lightpulsar Dragon :
Lightpulsar Dragon can be special summon from the hand like a Chaos Sorcerer, and "If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can target 1 Level 5 or higher DARK Dragon-Type monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon that target." so you can reborn Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon when Lightpulsar leaves the field and goes to grave.
And the thing is, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and Lightpulsar Dragon can reborn each other. They both are easy to summon, and are playable at 3 copies per deck (Cannon Soldier too by the way)
The OTK is very simple :
Step 0 : You summon your three monsters (doesn't mater how)
Step 1 : You use Cannon Soldier's effect, tribute Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon to deal 500 dammage
Step 2 : You use Cannon Soldier's effect, tribute Lightpulsar Dragon to deal 500 dammage
Step 3 : You activate Lightpulsar Dragon effect to reborn Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon (normaly the effect don't miss the timing)
Step 4 : You use Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon's effect to reborn Lightpulsar Dragon
Step 5 : You start over from Step 1
This OTK is stopable with card like Effect Veiler or D.D. Crow, but if you use Maxx "C", you will need to Effect Veiler the effect of Red-Eyes, not Cannon 's effect, why ? Because if you activate Maxx "C" you will draw each time your opponent special summon his dragons, so you won't lose with 0 LP but with 0 card left in your deck cause you only stoped the burn mechanic, not the special summon mechanic so your oponent will continue special summons and let you draw your entire deck and say "I End my Turn"

Too Bad the combo miss the timing now.
ReplyDeleteTributing Lightpulsar dragon is the cost to activate the eff thus making it a timing miss because the eff resolves after it get tributed, thus making it not activate.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know, my article was from October 19th, when Lightpulsar was announced nobody knew it would miss the timing.
DeleteI probably should edit my article ^^
if you had the card text then you should've known it would miss the timing from the start.
DeleteBut the english card text of Lightpulsar didn't exist in October 2011.
